“Continue earnestly in prayer, being vigilant in it with thanksgiving; 3meanwhile praying also for us, that God would open to us a door for the word.” Colossians 4:2-3 (NKJV)

As usual, the month of May will include much activity: the end of the school year, graduations & receptions, special holidays, preparation for Good News Circleville! and VBS, warm weather outings, and more. Hopefully, you will read this in time to serve as a last minute reminder to continue earnestly in prayer for this Sunday morning’s Sweet Hour of Prayer and for our Spring Bible Conference, May 1-4. (Please refer to this week’s Prayer Bulletin for suggestions for praying for these services. Additional information about the Bible conference is included in this newsletter, including the speakers and their message texts.)

A portion of our Sunday morning service on May 8 (Mother’s Day) will be devoted to a Family Dedication Ceremony, which will be led by the elders. Also, May 8 is Ladies’ Day at LEBC. Each woman who attends the morning service will receive a small gift at the close of the service. Please note: there will be no evening service on May 8. On May 22 the morning service will be dedicated to recognizing this year’s graduates, followed by a meal in honor of the graduates and their families. If you’ve not yet contacted the church office with the name of your graduate that will be participating, please call Kim as soon as you read this reminder. 

David Atkinson has conducted two Good News Circleville! planning meetings, thus far. The attendance and discussion at both of these meetings have been very encouraging. In addition to those from LEB who’ve already volunteered to serve this year, several outside organizations have committed to participate, as well. One important change to the timing of this year’s event is that Good News! will occur before VBS, giving us an opportunity to enlist children who come to Good News! to attend VBS. Another change is that the hours of Good News! will be from 11:00AM-3:00PM. Another change we are asking the Lord for is no rain!

Following the morning services on May 15, June 12, and June 26, Julie Heidish will be taking pictures for our much-needed updated church directory. These pictures will be taken in the church fellowship hall. Please plan to have to your picture taken on one of the designated days. We don’t want anyone left out.

On a personal note, I want to thank the adult Sunday School classes (and any others who may have contributed) for my extra special, surprise birthday present: the 33 volume MacArthur New Testament Commentary Set! I have several digital commentary sets that I purchased when I got a Bible software package a couple of years ago, but the MacArthur set was not included. I’ve looked at buying them, because it is one of my favorites (if not my favorite NT set). John MacArthur does a great job with word studies, historical background, and bringing other related Bible texts to bear on the Scriptures he is studying. But I could never bring myself to pull the trigger and actually purchase the set. I never dreamed I would own the hardcover set. Thank you all ever so much for your extreme generosity—and thoughtfulness. The gift was a major highlight of my birthday celebration. (Getting older was a little less painful—but someone suggested that I better get busy reading!)

Gratefully yours,
Pastor Dave

Dear Church Family,
Vacation Bible School will be June 6-10, 6-8:45 p.m.
Sign up as a volunteer and register your children at:
The theme this year is “Ocean Commotion.” We will dive into “Noah’s Flood” to learn important life lessons from Noah, such as:
• Standing for God (even if it means standing alone)
• Obeying God (no matter what)
• Trusting God (He’s a life saver)
• Thanking God (In everything)
• Fearing God (taking Him seriously)

The children will have a boatload of fun every day. First, in the opening assembly and then as they rotate to the snack, science/crafts, games and lesson time which will reinforce the life lesson learned that day.
In order to train these “divers” we will need volunteers just like you to serve in many different ways.
Please pray for the planning, how you will serve this year, and for the children coming to VBS.
Good News Circleville will be on the Sat. before VBS begins. We will be inviting children at that event to attend our VBS. We will need plenty of volunteers!! If you have not already filled out a Volunteer Registration form, please do so now at
If you have questions, contact me in person, by email: or by phone: 440-935-0494.

In His Service,
Emily Mitchell

How grateful I am to be a part of the Logan Elm Church Family. Words can never express the appreciation I have for you who have faithfully been praying, calling, sending cards, and reaching out in so many ways during Vern’s illness and death. I also express my heartfelt thanks for the lovely planter sent. I feel truly blessed.
God’s continued Grace to each of you.

In His Love,
Carol Baugher

Men’s Ministry
I praise the Lord for the turnout that we had for the April Men’s breakfast. I’m grateful that the video was well received by all in attendance. It resulted in some great discussion afterward, and I believe that those who have begun the study will look forward to continuing on in May. Plans are to meet again on the third Saturday
of May at 7:30 A.M. Please remember to be in prayer for all the preparation that will be taking place during the next 5 weeks as we close in on Good News Circleville on June 4th.

Phil Grubb,
Men’s Ministry

For the month of May, we will be collecting small games as well as flashlights and batteries.
